Port Stephens Golf Courses
In recent years Port Stephens has grown to be a great golfing destination, including:
- Nelson Bay Golf Club
- Horizons Golf Resort
- Pacific Dunes Golf Club
- Tanilba Bay Golf Club
- Newcastle Golf Club
Nelson Bay Golf Club
One of the most popular golf courses in Port Stephens is the Nelson Bay Club, which welcomes newcomers, although visitors are charged more on a Saturday.
The course at Nelson Bay Club is largely sand based, which means it is seldom affected by wet weather, making it an all-year-round golf spot. The club is bounded by the Tomaree National Park, which gives it a real bushland charm.
Horizons Golf Resort
There are several other golf clubs to try around Port Stephens, such as the Horizons Golf Resort at Salamander Bay. This club offers a true Aussie experience, with a bushland setting and plenty of native wildlife.
The facilities at Horizons are top-end, as well as the prize-winning course itself. The golf course is a par 72 layout, and until 2002 was considered in the top ten in Australia.
Pacific Dunes Golf Club
The Pacific Dunes is another club that is open to the public in Port Stephens. It was designed to offer a ‘fun challenge’ to novices or experts alike.
Once you have finished your round there is plenty of opportunity to relax and unwind at the 19th hole. Whilst there you should try some of the famous wine that is produced locally in the nearby Hunter Valley.
There are a few more golf courses to try around Port Stephens, or if you head south of Newcastle you will find more. Newcastle is located just south of Port Stephens, around an hour away. There are also several more golf clubs inland towards Maitland and the Hunter Valley.
