Birubi Beach is explicitly found on the Northern end of the Stockton Sand Dunes, the enormous moving dunes in the Southern Hemisphere. If you’re in the Port Stephens area, you should check out Birubi Beach for all the fun things to do.

You’ll be awestruck by the number of activities currently offered – all in one vicinity!

Birubi Beach Gateway To The Stockton Sand Dunes

Even if you don’t like to go sand surfing or partake in one of the adventurous activities, it’s a lovely location to wander along the beach, go fishing off the rocks, or admire whales out at sea.

You don’t have to fly to the Aussie Outback to experience a sand desert; Port Stephens has all that!

The Worimi people have been using the dunes for thousands of years, and they now permit guests to experience them while keeping away from historically significant aboriginal sites. The massive sand dunes that extend as far as the eye can see are absolutely stunning.

Sandboarding down the Stockton Sand Dunes, camel riding through the sand, 4WD expeditions into the hills, and quad biking along the beach and dunes are just a handful of practical activities to try.

The striking element of these dunes is how you can stroll around them one day and then come back the next day to discover them entirely different in response to varying weather conditions.

Look for seashells, rare plants, and other treasures that the wind takes away with the sand.

The warmer temperatures from beaches and bays provide refuge for whales, especially those with calves who may need to rest or take things gradually.

During the whale season, which is usually between May and November every year, approximately 25,000 whales travel and quickly visit the beach.

Humpback Whales and Southern Right Whales are the two most prevalent whales. Some travel up the coast to warmer waters, then travel back down in the fall, some with calves in company.
